Google made big changes to the ways their search results rank, in the hope of offering it’s search users better results, according to their official blog, this change impacts 11.8% organic search results, put it this way, google thinks about 12% of it’s search results are really bad and need to manipulated. The update was initiated more than a year ago, no wonder I saw a few of my keywords’ ranks dropped like a rock, the good thing is that those keywords promoted by content rich links are not affected, a few of these keywords ranked better than ever, it’s safe to say that old way of link building is doomed.
So what exactly is linking campaign the old way? a large percentage of SEO firms will do this, they will get links from any websites which accept adding links, these websites will only be updated when new links are being added, it’s safe to assume all of them are trash, the name link spamming are just for these sites. New google algorithm most likely will punish these link spammers, the links on those spamming sites won’t work anymore.
Let’s check out a few examples. In the very beginning, I didn’t know better, I needed to rank the keyword, Wheel Straps, it was old way of link building all the way, almost all the sites I got link from had too many links, worst yet, those sites had no content at all. I would give credit where credit is due, this linking strategy worked, finally the rank improved a lot, the party was over when google updated it’s algorithm. Now let’s look at another keyword, chain pullers, we promoted this keyword with articles and blog posts, almost no plain links, the rank for this keyword is making me real happy. Now contextual links win the battle, then what? In fact the only thing matters here is content, when you create unique and quality content, your rank will improve over time, since search engines are another kind of readers. How do you do it? Writing articles and building blogs, such as this interesting blog, baby stroller , I didn’t put too much effort into it from start, but I never stopped posting, now it can even rank the highly competitive keywords. As we can see, article marketing with great content is the way to go. Say you’re building your own bogging network, such as Drum Lifter, then it will be easier to do article marketing.
Bottom line is that you should create great content, publish and share with people, in the mean time advertise your business with your content, as long as you don’t stop doing this, you will win over customers and search engines.
